The Institute Organises a placement week for MBA in the initial months of each year although recruitment through Pre Placement Offers (PPO) starts much earlier. However, in case of MCA the PPO starts from 1st week of September. The companies conducts Pre Placement Talk before visiting campus during placement week so that they can interact with students and provide them an opportunity to know more about their potential employers. Companies also invite CVs of interested students and short listed students on the basis of their profile before visiting the campus. Selected candidates are given ‘on the spot’ offers by the company.
Apart from campus placement, some students get selected through off campus interview conducted by various companies.
Summer and on Job Training:-
As a part of curriculum, MBA and MCA students are required to undergo summer as well winter internship with an Organisation for a period of 6-8 Weeks for MBA and 6 months for MCA. The internship has dual objective. Firstly it would allow the study to apply the concepts learnt, in less time and hone their ability to define, diagnose and analyse managerial problems and search for its appropriate solutions. On the Job training is a way to bridge the gap between theory and practice. After handling live problems, students after completion of the summer and on job training, appear with a much more intimate understanding of Management and Technical issues facing the organization. A greater appreciation of operating variables supplemented by a cognizance of the larger business environment. The organizations are also benefited by acquiring the sharp mind equipped with analytical and technical capacities to tackle the immediate issues.
The selection process for summer training starts after the completion of first semester of MBA students. Pre process for on the job training for MCA students starts generally from September every year.
The period of summer internship for MBA is after the second semester examination and after fifth semester examination for MCA students. Students of MBA are required to complete their assignments and rejoin campus by 1st week of August or the date by which the third semester starts in TIMT. Students are required to prepare a project report and submit the same to the company as well to the Institute both in the case of MBA and MCA.
In additions to summer internship and On Job Training Programmes, several organizations like Pepsi co., Appollo Tyres, karvy Consultants Ltd, Sify etc. have tapped TIMT talent pool for solving various specific problems. These live projects are undertaken by students any time during the programme for duration of 15-30 days. The selection process for live projects is based on the interview conducted by the companies. All the live projects undertaken by the students are on paid basis and all the costs associated with projects are borne by companies only. The nature of the projects ranges from Marketing Research and Financing to Technical aspects. These projects help the students to achieve quality placements.
Placement activity at TIMT is managed by students as well Placement Coordinator. However, recognizing the importance of placement activity, institute has a placement committee to provide overall supervision and direction for final as well as summer and on-the-Job Placement of the students. The committee consists of a Chief Placement Officer, Placement Co-ordinator, a group of faculty members and student members who work in close co-ordination with the industry.-->
